The Four Dragons

Suddenly, Fu Wing saw the dragons. They were flying fast across the sky. They were playing a game. First a black dragon flew across the sky. Then a yellow dragon followed, and tried to catch him. Then a white dragon came flying quickly after the yellow one. Then a very long dragon joined in. The four dragons flew round and round, chasing each other across the sky.

Fu Wing had an idea. He carried his incense up to the top of the high mountain near his hut. He burned the incense there. Then he shouted to the dragons:

'Dragons! Dragons! Can you hear me? Please bring us some rain. We need rain to grow food.'

He stood there on the top of the mountain, shouting at the dragons. He shouted and shouted. Suddenly, the dragons heard him. They stopped their game. They looked down at the earth. They saw how dry it was. They saw how thin the people were. That made them feel sad.

'Why are the people so thin?' the black dragon asked Fu Wing.

'The rain doesn't come any more,' replied Fu Wing. 'We cannot grow any food. We are so hungry. Every day people pray to the Sky God. They burn incense to him. But he doesn't send us any rain.
