The king is angry
King Minos remembered Daedalus. He gave him a house and a workshop. He gave him lots of work to do. Daedalus did some good work for the king. Icarus helped his father in the workshop. They were happy living in Crete.
But one day something bad happened. King Minos wanted Daedalus to do something. He sent one of his servants to Daedalus's workshop. Daedalus was busy. 'Come back later!' he said to the servant.
The servant went back to Minos. 'Daedalus is too busy,' he said. 'He says, "Come back later."'
King Minos was angry. 'Come with me,' he said to his servant. 'We will go to Daedalus's workshop.'
Minos and his servant went to Daedalus's workshop. The servant knocked at the door.
'Come back later!' shouted Daedalus. 'I'm busy.'
The king pushed the door open. He walked into the workshop. 'I'm the king and you're my servant,' he said. 'You can't talk to me like that!'
'Oh, yes I can' Daedalus answered. 'I am as good as you. I can make beautiful things. You can't.'
King Minos was very angry. He called for his soldiers. 'Take this man away!' he shouted.
The soldiers put Daedalus and Icarus in a small room. The room was at the top of a high building. It had one small window and a strong, thick door.
